Lego - Print Advertisements
I love this series of ads, mostly because it is almost 10 years old and still communicates effectively today, but also because I love the sense of imagination that it captures. These ads are simple, clean, and clearly show that Legos are a fun, versatile toy for children. Because the intended target market for this product are the parents of the children, this ad is even more appealing because it shows that Legos are a toy that get your child’s gears turning.
Parents are constantly searching for toys that aren’t complicated, will entertain their children, and have multiple uses. These advertisements address all of those desires through their aesthetics and lack of copy, while prominently displaying the product. Basically, what’s being communicated is, “Your kid’s imagination is what makes our product great.” This ad also communicates that with Legos, children can build anything they can imagine.
These advertisements could be printed in magazines, posters, or billboards. Because the message can be interpreted visually so quickly and doesn’t require reading a message, it is an effective ad even for people who are skimming through a magazine, driving down a highway or walking past a poster. The quick communication of this ad also speaks to busy parents, who don’t have time to figure out a complicated ad.
